With the rapid development of the carton box industry, carton box machine enterprises are also rising. Before the 1970s, the production equipment for carton boxes was manually  operated on a single facer, resulting in low production efficiency. In the 1980s, some cardboard companies began to introduce Japanese equipment, corrugated cardboard production lines, water-based printing slotting machines, and rotary die-cutting machines. Domestic carton machine manufacture companies began to imitate the imported equipment. Due to the high price of imported equipment, most domestic cardboard box enterprises are unable to accept it, which has opened up sales channels for domestic mechanical equipment enterprises. However, the high-speed, high-tech development trend of carton box machine and equipment is already clear.

The corrugated cardboard production line introduced by cardboard companies in the early 1980s has been in use for more than 20 years, but has been phased out and relatively new production lines have been purchased. Some large and medium-sized domestic cardboard enterprises have economic and market competitiveness, and they need high-quality, high-speed, and wide corrugated cardboard production lines. If domestic mechanical enterprises can produce and manufacture the "four heights and one width", they will definitely be accepted by cardboard enterprises. Due to the price difference between domestic corrugator lines, it is not affordable to buy without a strong economy, while domestic line prices are relatively low and easily accepted by cardboard enterprises. Of course, there are still gaps between domestic production lines and products, mainly in terms of structure, speed, material, and processing accuracy. Of course, if we strengthen research and continuously improve, it is possible to spend 8-10 years catching up with the level.

The future direction of the carton machine manufacturing industry is to reduce ordinary corrugated cardboard production line and develop medium corrugated cardboard production lines. The three layer and five layer ordinary corrugated paperboard production lines belong to low-end products, which cannot meet market demand due to slow speed, poor quality, and low grade, limiting the development of cardboard box enterprises. Some enterprises have long used ordinary corrugated cardboard production line and outdated equipment. However, due to economic conditions and sales limitations, some small and medium-sized enterprises can only temporarily purchase ordinary corrugated wire to develop production. In addition, different regions should also be treated differently.

Single facer units emerged in the 1980s and early 1990s, replacing manual operation on a single machine and meeting the needs of small and medium-sized cardboard enterprises. However, compared to corrugated cardboard production lines, the cardboard produced by single facer is soft, of poor quality, and has a large waste of raw paper. At present, a pattern of internal cooperative production in the industry of "centralized board making and decentralized box making" has been formed in various regions, and single sided corrugated units will inevitably be eliminated.

The corrugated cardboard production line will be equipped with DE single facer and slitting computer thin blade press. The equipment for the subsequent process is equipped with high-speed, multifunctional, multi-color printing slotting machines, flat and flat high-speed die-cutting or indentation machines, thin blade slitting and indentation machines, printing surface veneers, automatic or semi-automatic bonding machines, as well as laser computer engraving machines and flexographic processing equipment.

Developing post processing equipment for cardboard boxes is the direction for future cardboard machinery enterprises. The production structure of cardboard boxes is being adjusted, entering a new pattern of chemical division and cooperative production.
