Corrugated cardboard production originated in the United States, and fully automated corrugated cardboard production lines began to emerge in the 1940s., In 1968, Langston Company launched a modern corrugated cardboard production line with a width of 2.2m and a speed of up to 212m/min. At the same time, various types of carton machine for forming, die-cutting, folding, and gluing combinations were introduced, marking a significant leap in new technology in the field of corrugated carton machinery.

After entering the 1990s, the cardboard box industry entered a stage where computers and high-tech technologies were widely used. Microprocessors and microelectronic digital technology were not only used in the electrical control devices and mechanisms of carton machinery, but also widely used in the control and adjustment of the entire production process.

At present, the width of the corrugated cardboard production line has reached 3.3m, and the speed is developing towards the level of 300-350m/min. In 1994, the Netherlands began producing lightweight corrugated cardboard boxes with high equipment requirements and a weight of only 90g/m2 for corrugated base paper.
